This historic infrastructure project marks a decisive step toward positioning Ethiopia as Africa\u2019s premier aviation hub, enhancing national connectivity, economic growth, and global aviation leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, valued at $12.5 billion, is the largest aviation infrastructure initiative in Africa\u2019s history. It forms part of Ethiopia\u2019s multi-airport strategy to secure its role as the continent\u2019s leading air transport gateway. BIA will strengthen Ethiopian Airlines\u2019 global competitiveness, boost connectivity under the&nbsp;AfCFTA&nbsp;framework, and expand trade and tourism corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located&nbsp;40 km southeast of Addis&nbsp;Ababa at 1,910 meters altitude,&nbsp;<a><\/a>Bishoftu offers optimal conditions for aircraft performance and efficient passenger handling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first phase will accommodate 60 million travelers annually, with a master plan capacity of 110 million, positioning Ethiopia among the world\u2019s premier aviation hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image
