Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed attended and delivered a message at the national conference organised under the theme:
“Data Sovereignty for Policy Independence.” In his speech, he stated that data is not only a valuable national resource like gold, but also a key foundation for building a strong state and ensuring both data and policy sovereignty.
He explained that relying entirely on information obtained from others undermines policy independence and raises concerns about the accuracy of such information. Therefore, collecting and analyzing a country’s own data through its own citizens is a major source of national pride and security. He further noted that expanding data sources and cross-checking them with one another to establish a modern and reliable information system plays a decisive role in national development. In addition, he emphasized that, in order to ensure higher standards of quality and accessibility, it is essential at the present time to make extensive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in both private and government institutions.
