The 38th Summit of the African Union has been hailed as a diplomatic achievement for Ethiopia

In a media briefing today FDRE Government Communication Service announced the successful conclusion of the 38th AU’s Summit, which took place in Addis Ababa from February 5- 9/2025.

Mr. Tesfahun Gobezay, State Minister of the Government Communication Service, highlighted the achievements of the 46th Executive Council and the 38th African Leaders’ Summit, which convened over 12 thousand leaders, international organization heads, and diplomats.

The event showcased Ethiopia’s capacity for effective institutional coordination, enhancing the nation’s global image.

The State Minister identified three key outcomes from the AU summit; the successful execution of major events through coordinated efforts, the positive portrayal of Ethiopia to the international community, and the reaffirmation of the country’s diplomatic accomplishments.

Mr. Tesfahun acknowledged the significant contributions of various national institutions, under the direct supervision of Prime Minister’s Office, the Addis Ababa City Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ethio Telecom, Ethiopian Electric Utility, the whole Security Apparatus, Customs Commission, and dedicated volunteers.

The residents of Addis Ababa expressed their appreciation for the hospitality extended during the summit, which contributed to its overall success. The Government Communication Service extended its gratitude to all involved in this significant diplomatic event.
