Government Communication Service emphasizes women’s crucial role in driving sustainable change

  • GCS has celebrated the 49th International Women’s Day

FDRE Government Communication Service has celebrated the International Women’s Day (March 8) with a program centered on the theme, “Rapid and Sustainable Global Change is Ensured by Women” with a panel discussion and a blood donation session.

The 114th International Women’s Day, which will be celebrated internationally and for the 49th time in our country, has celebrated with various activities  in the presence of institution’s leaders and general staffs of the Government Communication Service.

The Executive Officer of Government Communication Service, Mr. Endalkachew Tsegaye speaking on the occasion, highlighted the Service’s commitment to identifying and addressing systemic gender equality barriers.

He noticed that efforts are underway to promote women’s involvement in governance, decision making process, and across social, economic, and political spheres. Special emphasis is placed on equitable access to education and employment, and enhanced participation in leadership roles at Government Communication Services, he said.

The event featured training and discussions on women’s health, emphasizing cervical and breast cancer awareness on the document prepared by Ministry of Health.  It has also examined Ethiopia’s constitutional framework regarding women’s participation and equitable access.

A blood donation program, marked by active participation of leaders and general staff, highlighted a collective commitment to the spirit of the day.
