The Government is scaling up urban and rural corridor development initiatives designed to improve citizens’ lifestyles and living conditions. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed confirmed that accelerated projects in regional cities are already showing results, with Dire Dawa highlighted as a key example.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister noted that the Dire Corridor has delivered modern public recreation areas, enhanced environmental aesthetics, and created vibrant community gathering spaces. The corridor’s infrastructure includes electric vehicle charging stations, shops, cafeterias, and standardized parking facilities all aimed at boosting local income and supporting sustainable urban growth.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also visited the Dire Dawa Mesob One Center, a hub facility that brings together 10 institutions to offer 73 services to residents. The center, equipped with 96 counters, has served more than 23,000 customers in the six months since its opening. Currently, the center is advancing plans to expand integrated digital services, reinforcing efficiency and accessibility for all citizens.
