Volunteerism in the Rainy Season
June 11, 2018
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed officially launched the nation’s annual rainy season volunteer campaign in Gurura Village, located within the Goro District of the South West Shewa Zone.
The community-driven development initiative focuses on constructing 20 new homes aligned specifically to the structural master plans of the government’s rural corridor initiative. This design framework aims to modernize local infrastructure and systematically upgrade standard living conditions across local communities.
These expanding rural roadmaps build upon significant past milestones. Over the last seven years, the initiative has successfully constructed and renewed over 45,000 houses for low-income urban residents.
Last year alone, the government built more than 40,000 apartments for vulnerable populations in the capital. Furthermore, the program recently delivered solar-powered model villages equipped with biogas systems in the Halaba, Kembatta and Silte zones of Central Ethiopia Region.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated that the arriving rainy season serves as an opportunity to scale up national compassion and structural support for the vulnerable.
The Premier strongly urged all citizens across Ethiopia to actively participate in the mobilization, stressing that mutual aid and collective labor are vital to lifting the country forward. Construction efforts are scheduled to proceed immediately alongside the changing weather patterns.
