President Taye: Democratic Elections Only Path to Power

President Taye Atske Selassie declared democratic elections the only path to power, officially closing all unconstitutional approaches to political leadership and emphasizing peace as the foundation of governance.

The President emphasized that the fundamental teaching of modern democracy is rooted in peace, while its only legitimate language is the ballot box. The President made it clear that unconstitutional power grabs will not be tolerated.

Following the conclusion of the historic 7th general election, the Head of State urged all political actors to transition quickly. He stressed that the country must now pivot from fierce electoral competition toward the vital, collaborative task of national state-building.

President Taye extended his heartfelt appreciation to all participating political parties for their commitment to the democratic process. Furthermore he offered high praise to the National Election Board of Ethiopia.

The President commended the institution for successfully fulfilling its dignifying promise to the public by delivering a fair, free, and completely transparent electoral process.

This strong declaration reinforces the government’s stance that peaceful democratic elections remain the only path to national leadership, signaling a unified focus on building a stable nation.
