Ethiopia Showcases Food Sovereignty at 2nd World Food System Summit

Ethiopia successfully convened the 2nd World Food System Summit in Addis Ababa, co-hosted with Italy and the United Nations.
The high-level summit brought together global leaders, agricultural experts, and institutional partners to discuss solutions for food system resilience and dietary transformation. The event provided a strategic platform for Ethiopia to share its progress toward food sovereignty.
Key achievements were highlighted, including the expansive Green Legacy initiative, which plants billions of seedlings annually to mitigate climate change and boost food security.
Ethiopia also showcased its innovative “Bounty of Basket” profit initiative, winter wheat irrigation, and thriving urban agriculture programs as pillars of sustainable development.
The summit reinforced Ethiopia’s emergence as a diplomatic hub, having hosted over 150 international summits in the past year. The nation’s growing service industry, dynamic urban evolution, and rich tradition of hospitality continue to attract global engagement.
