Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially characterized the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) as a enduring emblem of national renewal. In a symbolic statement, he highlighted that Ethiopia’s transformation is rooted in sacrifice and resilience, stating, “A drop of blood, a drop of sweat, a drop of tears, and a drop of water.”
With the dam now completed and scheduled for inauguration in September, it stands as a monumental symbol of the collective efforts of the Ethiopian people across generations.
