State Minister of Government Communication Service, Mr. Tesfahun Gobezay, reaffirmed the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) as a powerful symbol of national unity and determination.
During a site visit with arts and media professionals, Mr. Tesfahun described GERD as “a living tribute to what Ethiopians can achieve when they stand together and contribute their sweat and blood.”
He emphasized that GERD is not merely a dream fulfilled; it stands as proof that Ethiopia can initiate and complete transformative projects. From political leaders who withstood intense pressures, to security forces who paid the ultimate price, and workers enduring harsh conditions—every sector of society played a vital role.
Mr.Tesfahun also credited arts and media professionals for inspiring a public movement that transformed the Nile’s underdevelopment into a national cause.
The visit to the dam, often called the “Modern-day Adwa,” coincides with preparations for a historic celebration, highlighting Ethiopia’s renaissance spirit.
Reflecting on the emotional significance of this achievement, the Minister stated, “It is the result of a drop of blood, a drop of sweat, a drop of tears, and a drop of water—a legacy built by every Ethiopian.
