Pagume 1, 2017
Today, the Government Communication Service observed the “Day of Endurance,” under the theme “Strong Foundation, Strong Country,” honoring Ethiopia’s rich history of resilience and the sacrifices made by its people.
The statement highlighted Ethiopia’s legacy as a nation built through the sacrifices of ancestors, celebrating its enduring strength amid centuries of challenges. From the victory at Adwa, where internal divisions were set aside to defeat colonial forces, to the monumental achievement of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Ethiopia’s history is characterized by heroic unity and defiance against formidable odds.
It also reflected on the difficulties faced during the construction of the Renaissance Dam—droughts, floods, pandemics, locust invasions, and diplomatic pressures. Yet, Ethiopians remained steadfast, transforming adversity into a symbol of national pride and sovereignty.
“Ethiopia is a land of heroes, whose courage has shaped history into chapters of victory—before and after Adwa, before and after the Renaissance Dam,” the statement proclaimed.
This day serves as a tribute to those who endured hardships and emerged victorious, reaffirming Ethiopia’s identity as a nation founded on unity, sacrifice, and perseverance.
The Government Communication Service pledged to honor these patriots eternally, affirming that Ethiopia will never forget the love and efforts of its people.
