Diversity as a Foundation of National Unity – State Minister Tesfahun Gobezay

The Government Communication Service (GCS) commemorated Unity Day with a lively celebration under the theme “Diversity is the Beauty of Ethiopia.” The event celebrated the nation’s cultural richness as a vital source of strength, beauty, and resilience.

During the celebration, State Minister of the Government Communication Service, Mr. Tesfahun Gobezay, delivered a message highlighting that “diversity empowers, enriches, and unites Ethiopia with vibrant strength.” He reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to promoting inclusive systems that honor and celebrate Ethiopia’s diverse identities, histories, and perspectives.

The Minister emphasized that unity through diversity is more than just a principle; it is the driving force behind the country’s progress. By embracing the myriad cultures woven into Ethiopia’s social fabric, the nation enhances its resilience and collective spirit. He also stressed the importance of inclusive governance and the transformative power of diversity in shaping Ethiopia’s future with pride and purpose.

Representing the Federal Institutions Monitoring and Support Desk, Mr. Endalew Mulalem delivered a paper titled “Diversity is the Beauty of Ethiopia,” stressing that the country’s strength lies in its diversity. He provided concrete examples to illustrate how diversity serves as a pillar of national unity, identity, and resilience.

The event featured a panel discussion, during which GCS staff symbolically shared a table with low-wage workers to demonstrate solidarity and inclusive celebration. Additionally, greeting cards were distributed to all workers by Honorable State Minister Tesfahun Gobezay, reinforcing the message that diversity is not just a concept but Ethiopia’s living ornament and a foundation for collective progress.

The session concluded with renewed calls for inclusive dialogue and ongoing efforts to strengthen national cohesion through shared values.
