The 11th Tana High Level Forum on Security in Africa commenced yesterday, bringing together leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss Africa’s evolving position in a changing global landscape.

Held from October 14-15, 2018 (E.C) in Bahir Dar, the forum centers on the theme “Africa in an Evolving Global Order.” As international alliances and security paradigms shift amid rising geopolitical tensions, the Tana Forum provides an essential platform for African voices to promote indigenous solutions and influence global decision-making.

Key discussions will focus on regional security challenges, governance issues, and Africa’s potential to lead peacebuilding initiatives amidst global uncertainty. The opening sessions featured high level dialogues among ministers, heads of state, and special envoys, emphasizing the importance of continent-led strategies that address Africa’s unique realities and ambitions.

Given Africa’s demographic growth, digital advancements, and increasing geopolitical significance, participants stressed the importance of redefining Africa’s role not as a passive participant but as a proactive creator of global security frameworks.
