Ethiopia’s remarkable journey serves as a tangible testament to Africa’s potential to contribute meaningfully to inclusive global development, affirmed Mrs. Enatalem Melese, Minister of the Government Communication Service.
Mrs. Enatalem conveyed this message during a meeting between the Government Communication Service and Russian Today (RT) Television, aimed at strengthening cooperation in media and communication initiatives that foster mutual understanding and collaboration.
Welcoming RT’s Director General, Vera Karinyan, and senior officials, Mrs. Enatalem underscored Ethiopia’s commitment to working closely with international media institutions to amplify Africa’s voice and present a balanced, accurate narrative of the continent’s progress.
The Minister highlighted Ethiopia’s numerous achievements, emphasizing that the country’s development reflects Africa’s broader capacity to inspire confidence and showcase its growth trajectory.
She also commended RT for its longstanding relationship with Ethiopia and expressed appreciation for its willingness to collaborate with Ethiopian media and communication sectors.
In response, Director Vera Karinyan reaffirmed Ethiopia’s pivotal role as Africa’s diplomatic hub and highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Ethiopia and Russia. She emphasized RT’s dedication to challenging stereotypes about Africa and promoting a more authentic portrayal of the continent.
As part of this initiative, RT will host the Africa Media Awards in Addis Ababa tomorrow, recognizing excellence and aiming to enhance the capacity of African media institutions.
