Ethiopia’s National Dialogue: Pathway to Peaceful, Stable Future

December 21, 2018

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Process represents a historic generational transition, aiming to build unity and lasting consensus among the Ethiopian people.

This bold initiative seeks to heal divisions, restore trust between people and government, and confront ideological differences that have long strained Ethiopia’s political and social fabric, offering hope for reconciliation and sustainable national progress.

At its core, the Dialogue Process is built on the principle of mutual victory. By creating a structured platform for inclusive dialogue, it eliminates unnecessary doubts and conflicts, affirming that through dialogue, everyone wins. This inclusive approach ensures that diverse voices contribute meaningfully to shaping Ethiopia’s prosperous future.

The National Dialogue Commission has already achieved significant milestones, successfully collecting agendas across 11 regions, two city administrations, and engaging federal stakeholders as well as Ethiopians abroad. This broad participation reflects the deep commitment of Ethiopians to national unity and demonstrates the power of collective engagement in building consensus.

Beyond resolving disputes, the dialogue process serves as a foundation for reconciliation, shared development, and enduring stability. By institutionalizing dialogue, Ethiopia is charting a path toward sustainable peace and national cohesion.

It is vital that Ethiopians recognize inclusive dialogue as a crucial step in addressing core national issues and ensuring a stronger country for future generations. The government remains committed to engaging this process, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of Ethiopia’s democratic journey.

The Government Communication Service calls upon all Ethiopians to actively participate in this historic endeavor, embracing it as a decisive step toward building a peaceful, united, and prosperous nation.
