Scholars’ Essential Contribution to Advancing National Growth and Prosperity

During the distinguished celebration of Addis Ababa University’s 75th anniversary, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), an esteemed alumnus, presented a scholarly paper entitled, “The Role of Scholars in National Prosperity,”underscoring academia’s vital contribution.
In his presentation, the Prime Minister emphasized the indispensable role of scholars in shaping a nation’s future. He described an effective scholar as more than a collector of knowledge, a problem solver who confronts challenges with creativity, a deep thinker who reflects critically on complex realities, and a respecter of ideas who values diverse perspectives.
The Premier further highlighted that scholars must serve as analysts, carefully examining social, economic, and political issues, while also acting as solution seekers who propose practical, transformative pathways for development.
The Prime Minister underscored the belief that intellectual leadership and academic excellence are central to advancing Ethiopia’s prosperity and strengthening its contribution to global progress.
