“Corridor Development is Massive Project with Dual Objectives” – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD)
March 16/2018
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) described that the Corridor Development is a transformative strategic project designed with dual objectives reshaping the Ethiopian city’s appearance while ensuring tangible social and economic benefits for residents.
In current interview with Kana TV, Prime Minister Abiyexplained that meaningful development must integrate economic, social, and environmental goals. The Corridor Development embodies this vision, creating continuous job opportunities during and after construction, while offering young engineers invaluable practical experience.
The Prime Minister noted that Ethiopian universities have played an important role by equipping youth with advanced skills that now enable them to design and execute impressive projects across regional cities.
Housing construction, a key component of the initiative, has accelerated the delivery of thousands of homes, easing the national housing shortage. The project also replaces uncomfortable plastic shelters with modern, standard buildings, ensuring land property spaces are used appropriately.
Beyond housing, improvements in roads, lighting, and sidewalks have boosted property values along the corridor, fostering investor confidence. Traffic delay has been significantly reduced through the expansion of existing roads and the creation of alternatives.
The Prime Minister highlighted the construction of separate lanes for vehicles and pedestrians in Addis Ababa, which has enhanced mobility and allowed residents to reach destinations quickly and safely.
