Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) Extends Lieutenant General Tadesse Werede’s Appointment for One Year

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has formally extended the appointment of Lieutenant General Tadesse Werede as President of the Interim Administration of the Tigray Region for one year.
The decision, effective from April 1, 2018 (E.C) follows a review of the annual performance report submitted by the administration.
The extension was made in accordance with Article 62(9) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Article 14(2)(b) of Proclamation No. 359/1995, and Article 4(2) of Regulation No. 479/2013 issued by the Council of Ministers. These legal frameworks govern the establishment and continuation of the Tigray Interim Administration.
By renewing Lieutenant General Tadesse Werede’s mandate, the federal government reaffirmed his leadership role in guiding the region under constitutional and regulatory provisions.
The extension underscores continuity in governance and stability efforts within the Tigray Interim Administration.
