The 129th commemoration of Adwa Victory Day has colorfully celebrated in Addis Ababa today, under the theme, “Adwa is the Victory of the Black People.”
Remarkable attendees including President of Federal Democratic Republic Ethiopia, Ambasador Taye Atsekeslassie, Former Chairperson of the African Union Commission Mussa Faki Mahamat, Higher Government Officials, Security Leaders, Diplomats, and distinguished guests.
In his address, President Taye Atsekeslassie emphasized that the victory at Adwa firmed dignity in all humanity and showcased Ethiopian heroism to the world.
The president emphasized the importance of examining and preserving the wisdom and implications of this victory for future generations.
In her remark on the occasion, Ethiopian Minister of Defense Engineer Ayisha Mohammed delivered heartfelt congratulatory message on the occasion.
Engineer Ayisha said that the victory at Adwa signifies not only the resilience and bravery of Ethiopians, but also symbolizes a significant triumph that galvanizes for all people of African descent.
The Minister emphasized that the heroism traced in this event is a shared value among all Ethiopians and showcased martial skills as a testament to their history and keeping their national sovereignty.
In a message delivered by Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian Armed Forces, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, underlined that the victory of Adwa represents not only a triumph for Ethiopia but also for all black people across the world.
The Chief acknowledged the sacrifices of heroic ancestors in safeguarding Ethiopia and urged the current generation to unite in protecting the nation’s interests.
The Former Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mussa Faki Mahamat further noted that the significance of the Adwa victory extends beyond military success; it serves as a source of pride for black people and fosters unity and a collective vision across the African continent.
Mussa Faki underscored that the Adwa victory exemplifies how collaborative efforts among Africans can facilitate the realization of development aspirations and lead to enduring peace and security in all African countries.
Mr. Mussa lauded Ethiopia as a model for African development, highlighting significant citizen-centered initiatives underway in both rural and urban settings.
The celebration of Adwa Victory Day thus not only commemorates a historic military achievement but also reinforces a commitment to shared aspirations for unity, prosperity, and peace across Africa.
