At the World Economic Forum in Davos, FDRE’s Finance Minister Mr. Ahmed Shide presented a compelling economic report, framing the nation as an emerging force in Africa’s reform journey and signaling its determination to shape continental transformation.
Addressing High Level Session of African Job Engine, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide underscored Ethiopia’s resilience against global headwinds, highlighting consistent GDP growth, expanding infrastructure, and bold fiscal reforms as defining pillars of the nation’s economic trajectory and reform-driven future.
The report highlighted Ethiopia’s experience with innovative financing mechanisms and digital transformation agenda as engines of job creation and export diversification. Mr Ahmed underscored the government’s commitment to balancing macroeconomic stability with inclusive growth, pointing to recent debt restructuring agreements and strengthened partnerships with international financial institutions. He noted that Ethiopia’s agricultural modernization and renewable energy investments are not only reducing vulnerability to climate shocks but also aligning with global sustainability goals.
The Minister framed Ethiopia’s economic journey as a story of reform and resilience, stressing that the country’s future connects on unlocking private sector dynamism. He called for deeper collaboration with investors, particularly in green energy, logistics, and technology, while reaffirming Ethiopia’s role in regional integration through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The Minister concludes his remarks by emphasizing Ethiopia’s bold message to the nation seek recognition as a credible partner in shaping Africa’s emerging economic renaissance.
