The Environmental Protection Authority and Government Communication Service have conducted training session for media and communication professionals on Clean Ethiopia’s second phase, emphasizing its core objectives and dry waste disposal practices to boost nationwide environmental awareness today.

Speaking on this occasion Mr. Tesfahun Gobezay, State Minister of the FDRE Government Communication Service, highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Environmental Protection Authority and the Government Communication Service.

The State Minister has also explained that media outlets play a crucial role in promoting environmental protection, a responsibility that demands consistent public engagement and informative content.

Mr. Tesfahun reaffirmed that environmental protection is a national priority, backed by legal reforms and institutional strengthening.

Engineer Lelise Neme, Director General of the Environmental Protection Authority, noted successful initiatives such as corridor development, green footprint programs, and riverside enhancements from the first round of the Clean Ethiopia Movement.

To ensure lasting impact, media professionals are now integral to the second round of awareness campaigns, scheduled for the next six months. Additionally, the new Dry Waste Management and Disposal Proclamation aims to mitigate pollution and safeguard public health and safety.

Participants have acknowledged their vital role in raising public awareness and emphasized the need for accurate knowledge to advocate effectively for a cleaner Ethiopia.  Media experts stressed that protecting the environment requires the active participation of every citizen.
